Tempura is one of those techniques that looks impressive but is actually beautifully simple when you’ve got the right tools. This kit gives you both essentials: a proper tempura batter mix and an authentic dipping sauce, so you can create that delicate, shatter-crisp coating without heaviness.
The magic of tempura is its lightness — crisp, golden, and never greasy. Done right, it lets the ingredient shine, whether it’s sweet prawns, pumpkin, or a simple slice of zucchini.
This is one of my favourite “last-minute entertaining” tools. You can turn a few prawns, whatever veg is in the fridge, and a bowl of rice into something that feels special — fast. It’s also incredibly versatile: light dinner, starter, or a platter for sharing.
Cold batter + hot oil = crisp, light tempura.
Use icy cold water, don’t overmix (lumps are good), and fry in small batches. If the batter warms up, pop it back in the fridge for a few minutes.

Tempura Batter Mix – 100g
Tempura Dipping Sauce – 40g
Keep in a cool, dry place.
Batter Mix (100g):
Wheat flour, corn flour, rice flour, tapioca starch, salt, white pepper, raising agent (sodium bicarbonate), raising agent (sodium acid pyrophosphate).
Tempura Sauce (40g):
Water, soybeans, wheat flour, ginger roots, salt, sugar, yeast extract, licorice root extract, fish extract (bonito), preservative (sodium benzoate).
